Over the years I have learned one thing about people who create backlinks to their websites. If you don’t know what you’re doing, then you can spend a large amount of time wasting your time, and even messing the reputation of your website up.
There are so many rumors on Google in regards to linking campaigns for websites as a means to getting more traffic.
You basically have to use common sense, know what to take in and what to leave out. The thing about creating backlinks for you website is that you really have to be careful.
You might read over a billion blogs that say they have the “answer” to help you make it onto the first page of Google, but be that as it may, you never really will. No one knows 100% what Google wants from us. They tell you what can help… but there are a million sites out there that are currently on page 50. Search engines always change, so you have to know what you’re doing.
Blogs and sites that give you this information for “free” are simply sharing something that has previously worked for them. Meaning, it might not work in a few months… or it might. But you will never really know for sure!
Things that you should always really take into consideration when trying to market your site are: who are the people that you are trying to reach? And what are the methods that you will use in your plan to be successful?
The reason that on many occasions backlinks have worked so well for other people is really quite simple. Google love’s popular sites. Always has and always will. More backlinks equals more popularity.
When people start a campaign and begin creating backlinks for their site, they are simply trying to tell Google this: “Hey look at me, I’m everywhere, therefore I’m cool, so show me, Show me, Show me on page one!”
This is why I say and advice people that I’ve worked with to VERY careful with this type of advertisement. Creating a backlinks for yourself is fine, but you have to do it in the right way, otherwise the consequences could be quite dire.
Let’s put ourselves in a hypothetical situation here: Let say that we went to the mall earlier this week and we saw a turtle for sale. So we go home and we decide to think about buying it for a few more days. Suddenly on a beautiful Monday morning everyone on you phone lists calls you trying to convince you to buy the turtle (All 166 contacts that you have!). Wouldn’t you start thinking that there is something odd going on?
Well it’s the same with search engines. They want to see that you’re growing popular, but they want to see that you’re doing it in a natural and original way. Not doing something fishy to get up there. You must do it slowly.
You can do a few searches and read about all the websites who have done that mistake and have been dropped off of Google’s index. Destined to never be indexed again because of their dirty ways. Having to start over again with a brand new site.
It is the same for anyone who is trying to get famous- you will always have to please the people. But in this case, you have to please the search engines.
So always make sure that if you do decide to go into a backlink campaign, make it look as natural as possible!
As another added note, there are plenty of people out there who are willing to do the job for you. Some are expensive, but others are quite reasonable. Always make sure that you know exactly what will be done for your website.
