Acai Berry

Acai Berry

Acai is a berry with an abundance of extremely useful polyphenols. [Classified from Wikipedia as: ... a group of chemical substances found in plants, characterized by the presence of more than one phenol unit or building block per molecule] Acai is rumoured to be amongst the strongest antioxidants that one can simply pick from a tree. Its history goes back hundreds of years but to the amusement of those in Brazil, the rest of us have just recently discovered we have a love affair with the fruit.

I can’t attest to whether it is the strongest antioxidant one can find growing naturally but I can say that as antioxidants go many of the strongest alkaline vegetables are also amongst the better antioxidants. Fruits such as the Concord Grape, Blue Berry and alkaline vegetables like Kale, garlic and in fact the entire onion family are amongst the strongest antioxidants. The Acai berry and acai berry juice are not nearly as strong as the strongest of these, however from an antioxidant point of view acai is definitely stronger than both orange juice and cranberry.

For the untutored, most of us take in a considerable amount of free radicals in acidic foods. Free radicals wreak havoc with nearly any biological cellular structure that they come into contact with since electronically they attempt to bond with an opposite charge. Free radicals don’t really care what part of your body’s cellular system they bond with. Just imagine them as tireless destructive workers taking tiny chunks out of cellular tissue.

Acai, Alkavita, garlic, onions, Goji, vitamin E, vitamin C and other medium to high level antioxidants are highly sought after for this reason. Some doctors with the anti-aging clinics actually postulate that ongoing free radical damage is one of the key causes of aging.

Ok, so much for the quick biology lesson on antioxidants.

So, why Scam? Why is Acai being associated with scams and why would google care? Well for one, this product overlaps of two of the three most profitable niches online – health and fitness. But this doesn’t make it a scam, in truth, when cold pressed and handled properly, leaving out claims of being able to miraculously drop 30 pounds in a week, the product is highly beneficial.

I was reading the blog of a well known cpa marketer last week and he said that mysteriously a number of his ad campaigns were being shutdown by Google then restarted hours later. After some experimentation he found that his ad campaigns were only running a few hours a day on the google content network.

After some discussion with Google engineers, it came to light that the overly aggressive re-billing by certain companies promoting this acai product had raised such a stink that Google engineers were forced to shut down large parts of the content network in order to deal with the problem.

Acai Diet scam or not ?

Acai Diet scam or not ?

Furthermore, it is known that some marketers are using fake blogs and fake social proofs to entice customers to get the free product.

I can’t imagine that the bean counters at Google were overly happy about this situation, but you must imagine how large the problem had become when such drastic measures had to be taken.

If you are a marketer beware of promoting products that have aggressive re-billing schedules. You might be held liable if the FDA comes down on a bunch of promoters. If you are actually interested in the acai berry as a consumer beware of the actual process used to package the product and the aggressiveness of the offer itself. Remember that if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
