Chevy Chase helped create a series of successful movies in the 80s around the Griswold family story. Most of us have seen these reruns on TV at some time or another probably in the last year or so. Last night, one of the Super Bowl commercials featured Ellen and Clark Griswold. When the commercial came on and you saw Chevy Chase and Beverly D\’Angelo standing at the check in counter of a hotel, there was no question you were watching the Griswolds. There is the power of branding. The way the vacation rental website used the \”Griswold\” brand to provide entertainment and laughs was great, but they also assured that people would remember their commercial and name because of this.
Take away Chevy or Beverly and we wouldn\’t have been sure what the ad was going to be about. The reason for this is because the two of those actors together have created the Griswold brand. You can take a note from this is you are having a hard time setting yourself apart from the others in your home base mlm business. You will be successful when you have your own brand and people begin to associate you with whatever it is you are going after.
One of the first steps to building your brand will be to be sure that people can find you on the interweb. You can do this through any form of website, blog, or even a squidoo lense. Use whatever medium you choose as a place for people to really get to know you and a starting spot to building trust and likability. Put up photographs, videos, and articles that will help people know what you specialize in and that you are in fact an authority. Another cardinal rule is to be sure you own the Google searches for whatever your brand is whether it be your name or company.
The second brand building item you will need to address is to make sure that everything you are putting out is quality. Whether you are using video marketing, PPC, article writing, or social networks they all need to be filled with great content. A super example of this would be the SEO Networker guys, Ray and Ferny. They have built their brand around search engine optimization in such a way that the majority of the industry thinks of them first when talking about SEO. They were able to do this by providing great quality and invaluable resources.
The other key item that you can help use to brand yourself is social media. Sign up for Facebook, Myspace, and any of the others you like. One key thing here is to completely and honestly fill out your profiles and be sure to include pics and get some friends. Social media is a great place to brand yourself and gain new friends and followers.
Setting yourself apart is key to finding lasting success in the home base mlm business. Get a site, do some good content, and be active on the social media outlets and you will have a great foundation for building your brand. Think the Griswolds and the Super Bowl commercial and you can see the importance of branding.
