The Ultimate MLM – What would it look like ?
Posted by admin in Companies, Feature, Opportunities Sunday, 11 April 2010 10:15 No Comments
Today, I had an epiphany. If there were an ultimate mlm or network marketing opportunity – What would it look like? The mechanics of that absolute best mlm opportunity – what exactly would comprise the best?
Yesterday, I went through the network marketing blogs of a couple of friends and a few industry luminaries, some of whom have started their own mlms. There were various opinions as to what the best mlm opportunity might look like. None of them were overtly incorrect and most of them seemed to be right on the money.
From the hundreds of comments posted, four things seemed to stand out. These 4 appeared to be absolute musts in the minds of most experienced mlm marketers.
- The company pushing the opportunity had to have the stability and financial means to both pay out and do so for many, many years
- The product(s) being pushed had to not only have some innovative angle but had to be something that a very large number of people would desire ( need is important but desires drive purchases, lol )
- Potential of the product alone should comprise 75-80% of its viral appeal – in others words the product should nearly sell itself
- The Compensation package should not be binary or have arbitrary restrictions that are guaranteed to increase breakage and pay the company ahead of its distributors ( a very common and one of several compensation tricks that increases company revenue but ultimately deprives distributors )
Everyone seemed to more or less agree that this was the formula.
Do you agree ?
Well, looking at these 4 items, it looks rather good, even if its not perfection.
So, if many of us agree that the list looks good, why is it that at least 3 very old traditional companies break 2 or 3 of these 4 elements and yet have sales between half a billion to several billion annually ?
Seo for Network Marketing – Does it Even Work AnyMore ?

Yesterday, I read a comment on a blog about search engine optimization that vehemently protested that most of the articles on the topic were very nearly the same old regurgitated **stuff** ( and “stuff” was not the word the author used, lol )
I laughed and was about to move on when I realized that as badly as this was put, the blog commenter really had a very strong point.
The commenter who was obviously extremely technical was saying that there is a lack of real information or articles on algorithm curves and other such mathematics that can be used to boost one’s traffic from Google and other search engine sources.
If your website is in the top 3 search results in Google for a keyword phrase, you can get an enormous amount of qualified monthly traffic even in a niche market where the number of searches done monthly is less than 2,000.
I think there are four primary reasons that we see the same tired old stuff regurgitated by seo traffic experts.
1) Some “seo kids” regurgitating similar material are simply ghost writers involved in article marketing
2) No one, outside of a select small internal Google team, knows “The Google Algorithm”
3) Serious seo teams exists who can hustle endless traffic but why would they publicly document their $$$ formula ?
4) Ahh, the killer. That same old, tired seo advice works but not in the exact flavor that it’s always being promoted.
Btw, if you are a network marketer and you are using the exact same online site/landing page to capture leads as everyone else in your worthy organization, you have no competitive advantage.
You are going to have to look into a true sales funnel, dig in and build your own lead generation page which you can then A/B test to your hearts content. Google will even help you with your A/B testing in ways that you could never imagine.
The amount of onpage seo that you can do is typically Zero since most times you don’t even control the landing page that your visitors see first.
So, lets look at (3) …seo experts who know but why would they publicly document their money $$$ for free ?
Its obvious why they wouldn’t tell the rest of us, but what has this got to do with why there is so much tired misinformation on the topic?
Seo guys/gals who do their own marketing for additional “seo clients” will create thousands of bland articles about seo that tease your imagination and basically encourage you to click and go to their site for the real deal.
In truth, many of them are too busy to do their own seo and thus hire ghost writers ( Yes, back to option A again ) to write for them.
How do I know this?
Because that is how “Article Marketing” is done and seo guy and gals know it is moderately effective over time.
So in terms of published articles on the issue, the net effect of the hundreds of seo marketing groups world wide is tens of thousands of copy cat articles syndicated around the internet that give the user enough meat to entice and encourage but not enough for an informed user to say, “ahh ha, that’s how it’s done, lets get at it then”.
So now you understand why the internet is littered with short articles that regurgitate the same tired material. The problem is most certainly guys just like me.
What about option (4) ?
4) Ahh, the killer. That same old tired seo advice works though not always in the exact flavor that it’s being promoted.
There is more truth in the above statement than is immediately obvious.
So, let me break with the tradition of timewasting seo information and shoot it to you straight.
You want qualified online traffic? You are going to have to work for it! But you know that already right?
Here is the formula for increasing your online traffic naturally ( I swear )
First, don’t pick a battle you can’t win. Other than the fact that it is simply a waste of time, you will end up fervently telling a hundred of my future seo customers that seo doesn’t work, lol.
Go here please … https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Use Google’s tool to get the first of two pieces of information that help you determine which battles you can win.
You will use it, in phase 1, to find keyword phrases that are relevant to your market and that have less than 2,000 persons searching monthly. If you are really good and know what you are doing this 2000 limitation won’t bother you at all, particularly if you are willing to work at it and wait for what might be 2-12 months without results.
But for the rest of us who need results this month …
Then in phase 2, you will use regular Google Search with the irregular expressions I am going to give you below to scope out the competitive nature of the exact chosen key phrase that you zeroed in on in phase 1.
There are lots of expensive programs out there that can do this for you, but I am giving this to you for free.
Suppose I rejected the phrase “network marketing” because it has too much traffic and is therefore a honeypot for brighter seo’s than me. Suppose instead, I chose “network marketing companies” even though its traffic was less than 20% of the better phrase “network marketing”.
Or better yet, suppose I dug deeper and chose “Network marketing New York” … If New York or Houston or Beijing customers are still valid for your business – try this – Google will love you for it.
Then in google I want to know how many pages are seriously targeting this phrase with real intelligence that Google and Yahoo will instantly recognize.
I do that analysis like this in the google edit box.
inurl:”network marketing companies”
Now I see that there are X hundreds or X thousands of pages that have it in the title
[ Before I jump up and down like I just won a lottery, I should check the commercial intent of the phrase. ( I too was a dummy for many years and never thought of this small key IMPORTANT element ) Microsoft has an adcenter where you can check commercial intent. ]
So, here is some statistical data for using the inurl:”My chosen keyword” option …
If only a few hundred show up, with a little work, on your own you can probably be in the top 10 globally in a month
If a few thousand competitors show up, you will need to seriously work “the seo” to be in the top 10 globally in 2 months
If a few tens of thousands show up, then you had better have a very serious advantage over most of the competition or face it, just give up on that idea – it could be a “crap shoot” or a fairly long shot.
I wrote above about a “serious advantage“.
That serious advantage could be any of the following
A) A domain name that is exactly the search phrase
B) A hot shot seo/sem team capable of creating thousands of weekly internet events in top web2.0 properties around the internet.
C) You have access to Web3.0 seo technologies, hundreds of social network profiles and know how to get many PR7 sites to ping signals between other participating PR7/PR8 websites in such a way as to get Google to change the search result in a few minutes.
D) You have decided to ride the wave of local search and understand that while you may not be able to dominate the world for your term, that you do want to be first on the search engines for the nearest town of 100,000 people
I used (D) with an overhead of $1,000 to go from 0 to over 12,000 dollars for a New York Client in just 3 weeks. They have now created a new division within their company that will probably do between 2-400,000 in the next 18 months from that one strategy deployed across 4 new services that they now sell. They are sometimes number 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 on Google for their search terms with a combination of seo video marketing and keyword tuned blogs – talking about domination!
We are using (A) right here on this site where the original form of this article can be found.
I am using (B) and (C) with two dedicated outsourced teams who are attacking some extremely competitive keyword phrases.
Why is option C so powerful that it can sometimes work in minutes versus weeks, months or years?
Imagine a website with a google PR7 rating to be similar to a local municipal govt and a PR8 website to be small country in terms of importance. Note that both are significantly more powerful than you and your 20 next door neighbors. Their importance is mathematically calculated from the value of the backlinks pointing at them wherein PR8 could be 10 million.
What happens when a municipal politician starts discussing some trivial issue with a national government?
Perhaps nothing – but more likely than not, if a couple more municipalities and national governments weigh in on the same trivial issue, in a very short time that trivial info will hit “The News”
Suddenly “Trivial Issue” is now global material. Throw in a funny video or two and watch “trivial issue” go viral.
Google and Yahoo seriously love fresh important pieces of information like that!
So, there you have it. You may not understand all of what I just wrote but that was it – “That is the secret sauce”
Seo information that really works.
Network Marketing – Where Is My Traffic ?

Getting people to Voluntarily link back to your site.
A few days ago, I promised to continue the discussion on search engine optimization for network marketing.
Amongst the topics I promised to cover in the ongoing discussion were :
- How we get people to link back on the keywords that we need to rank highly for
- How one can subsequently get into the top 10 results, sometimes in as little as 7 days and
- How I have done it for two real clients in less than an hour.
Getting people to link back to you on your chosen keywords :
This is a extremely short discussion. They simply won’t do it.
Ha ha, why should they? To begin with, they don’t even know what keywords you value and to be truthful, until you do an indepth investigation of the competition and traffic – you don’t even know, so how can they?
Again, let me say, they won’t do it, even if you find the best keywords and ask people kindly from a web page.
But lets assume that I am wrong and 20 people during the year link back to your “Link-Bait” page using the keywords that you were interested in, would this make a difference?
Probably not, for four reasons good reasons that I can think of.
- 1) those links are probably coming to you from sites with a Google Page Rank of between 0 and 3
- 2) twenty of them are too few
- 3) Your keyword backlinking requirements probably won’t be the same? Oops, probably not.
- 4) Some, if not many of those links will come from blogs which by default contain the rel=nofollow tag
The nofollow tag gives you no link love with the search engines – at all. So, how much did those 20 annual backlinks really actually matter ? Not much.
The short point of this long story, is that you will really need to get pro-active and create those backlinks yourself.
The wonderful girls and guys over at Google say that if you create wonderful content people will naturally link back to it. I postulate that people are too busy re-washing their clean laundry and taking their cute dog for a walk to link back to you, so unless you think you have 3-4 years to wait, this is one time when you really don’t want listen to Google’s best practices advice.
You have four pretty obvious options to take and a few that are not so obvious.
To get these backlinks, you can …
1) Write and then syndicate quality articles about the need that your network marketing solution fills
( Try really hard not to be commercial – tease the user about solving some common problem and let the user click on your resource box to find out more ) Realistically you can get from 0 to 200 backlinks from each syndicated article.
2) Find related nofollow blogs and comment intelligently in them, and put your keywords in as your name. Note, do not put a link in your comment, that will increase the possibility of it being labeled as spam.
( Fully 60% of your comments may get rejected anyway, but the remaining 40% represent real links that help you )
3) Do an seo optimized Press release, which means you are going to pay $200 or more just for the release. How powerful it can be depends on a few factors but you can get both seo benefit and immediate traffic.
4) Forums, forums and more related ontopic forums. Become a real person in the forums first, answering and contributing to the forum. After a short while, put your link with your chosen keywords in your personal forum signature and continue being a good citizen of the forum.
Forums are powerful because some can send in excess of 500 people back to your site in a matter of days.
Most forums give you stronger immediate traffic benefit than seo benefit but pick and choose wisely and you may get both.
I have personally neglected this last forum option for no particular good reason that I can think of now, but my son has successfully hustled over 200 people in just a few hours from Google forums.
Note that these are all options that you can take control and do for yourself.
Creating more backlinks on your key terms puts your website higher in the search engine results for the exact term that you need. You will have to have that term in the title of the page that you want to be found for and your best bet is to use free blog software like wordpress instead of a free blogger account or a standard website.
Getting 200 to 500 qualified visitors daily from Google, Yahoo and MSN is the goal of most smaller websites.
It is achievable, but the build it and they will come philosophy will no longer achieve this. Billions of existing website pages means that mathematically, “Field of dreams” online is impossible. You must put the pennies in the bank today for the Gold Bullion to arrive tomorrow.
Options that were are not so obvious
I also mentioned that there were a few options which weren’t so obvious. I won’t go into huge detail here but suffice to say, they involve understanding some math.
Not all sites are regarded equally by Google, Yahoo or MSN. Some sites have credibility which is quite literally 1 million to 10 million times more powerful than our newly hatched pet project of last week.
Getting 20-30 keyword optimized backlinks from critical web2.0 sites like these that do NOT use the nofollow tag can be the equivalent of getting 1,000 backlinks from sites ranked as page Rank 1.
If you know how to do this, some would call it the low hanging fruit.
So, thats it for today, later this week, we will continue with the other two topics
- How one can subsequently get into the top 10 results, sometimes in as little as 7 days and
- How I have done it for two real clients in less than an hour.
Stay Tuned …
How to Get Network Marketing Leads.
Posted by admin in Feature, Tips, Tools Saturday, 10 April 2010 12:04 No Comments
Where are the Network Marketing Leads?
Do we just create great content, put it on our websites and hope for the best?
Or do we follow some kind of meticulous arcane routine to curry favor with the search engines?
Since, real online visitors are the key to your online success, this is an important area for discussion.
Tell us about your traffic.
How it has been since the first month of your website and what tips or tricks you have done to increase it.
If you are not able to track your traffic numbers, then let us know that too. Google Analytics is rarely accurate but it does give you some indication and it is free. We think that Google is not fast enough to track 1/10th of the world’s internet activity but that appears to be the track they are headed towards. Your own web logs are accessible through free programs like awstats.
Leads and Sales generally only come after traffic is increasing and many of us give up on a great online concept without realizing that like the growth of a child, increasing traffic generally means that we are getting closer to a sale.
Got a tip, gripe or advice to share?
Let us know here, please.
