Another way to get started is by joining someone that you have met on the Internet or searching out a company online first, then finding someone whose team you’d like to join. An advantage to this approach is that you can be brutally honest with someone you don’t really know. Disadvantage: you don’t really know this person.
Doing your homework on the company you’re thinking of joining is vitally important. Make sure you read the company Policies and Procedures and the contract before you sign on the dotted line. This may seem like a no-brainer but I have visited with hundreds of people who got into their company without reading the contract and without really knowing anything about the company itself.
