If you made no conversion, then your campaign is for nothing. That’s the general rule for PPC marketing. Unlike SEO or article marketing, getting traffic isn’t a big problem for PPC users. However, most people fail at PPC not because of high cost, but due to poor conversion.
Below, I outlined some tips that will cut 80% of you cost and take your campaign to the next level:
1. One keyword that works great is brand name. Anyone who’s in buying phase won’t type one word like money, business or debt. He would probably have in mind of what product, what brand and model to buy. These are some examples: Nikon Coolpix digital camera, Apple Macbook Pro and Canon Powershot SD1200IS.
2. Browse popular shopping sites like Amazon or eBay to get the idea on what people often looking for. Usually such shopping websites will list all popular products in one section. For example, Amazon Best Seller or eBay Pulse.
3. People who’s in pain tends to buy more for solution. Especially when you are promoting products in health market and computer security.
4. Understand why your customer needs one product. For example, those who want to buy registry cleaner probably experienced serious registry problem that leads to blue screen, slow computer and error messages.
5. Copy other’s profitable campaigns. This can be done with help of third party software. You can use tools like Keyword Elite 2.0 to see what others are bidding and even better, how their landing page looks like.
6. Another research method is by capturing Google search result for one particular keyword. If all advertisers for that keyword remove their ads after less than one month, probably that is a bad keyword.
7. Google Keyword Tool is a great, free tool to generate keyword ideas. The trick is to think of keywords that others wouldn’t imagine of. Therefore, you need to avoid simple keywords like “make money online”, “acne products” and more.
The conclusion is, in order to get the most from your ads, you need to learn how to use your competitors and keyword research tools properly.
