Google To Take That PPC And Shove It – Banner Ads Are An Awesome MLM Lead Generator

February 26th, 2010

If you are advertising online with Google PPC, there is no doubt you have experienced or witnessed the dreaded \”Slap\” that is going on with certain home business ads. If this is you, what are you going to do if you get cut off from your favorite paid strategy?

My favorite paid strategy is by far banner ads. I know, you are thinking I\’m nuts because no one uses those old things anyway. Well, keeping thinking that while I\’m using them to generate 5-10 lazer targeted leads every day. If you are interested, read on as I will give you some of the secrets I use to generate MLM leads using this method.

Keyword research is key to any kind of advertising, but much more important here to get the right leads. The way we will use keywords that we are going after is to search for them online and see what kind of sites we get returned. Once we have identified some sites that match our market, we will proceed to find out how to advertise on them. If they don\’t have a place to advertise on their site, they are probably hooked in with a media buying company such as, BuySellAds, BlogAds, etc.

When you are looking through the sites that came back from your keyword search, be sure to pay close attention to the demographics of the users on those sites. The worst thing you could do is advertise your biz op on a site for Teeny Boppers. A couple of great tools for beginning your demographics research are Quantcast and Alexa. These sites both have demo sections that will get you pretty close to the actual site make up.

We know our target market and what they are searching, why don\’t we get our banners. If you are representing an MLM or affiliate, they will probably already have stock banners. If they don\’t you can make some yourself in Photoshop or have an outsourcer handle them for you. You can get some really good banners for a couple of hundred dollars or less. Usually, I will make my own or get them made because I know that everyone else that has access to the stock banners will be using them. I like to stand out from the crowd for some reason.

Here is the best part of banner ads: the prices. There are a couple of different ways to go about placing your ads. One familiar method is PPC (or CPC) and the other is CPM (cost per mille). PPC banner ads usually run under $1 per click depending on the site competition. The CPM ads often average around 50 cents per thousand impressions. If you got two clicks in you thousand impressions, your CPC is on 25 cents per click, which is awesome.

Finally, you will have to determine if your ad will link directly to your offer/ affiliate page or a landing page. Well how do you know which way you should go? A good rule of thumb is anything over $50 should be directed to a landing page in order to sell the prospects prior to getting to the primary offer. If you don\’t send them to a landing page, you will more than likely see a pretty dramatic decrease in conversions.

Guys, I understand that there is really nobody talking about banner advertising, which is a good thing if you can learn to advertise their. You will get lazer targeted clicks often at a lot lower cost than traditional PPC. If you\’ve been hit by Google or are concerned you might be, take control of your lead generation and switch your paid MLM leads strategy to banner ads.

Understanding Why SEO Marketing Beats Using Adwords

February 26th, 2010

SEO Marketing can provide many benefits including helping a website gain greater visibility and it also means enjoying an improved web presence. The Internet has become the main source of information as well as provides buyers and sellers a chance to buy and sell goods and services. This means that any additional visibility that you can gain for your website, product or service will mean better prospects and increased profits.

It is interesting to know that SEO Marketing can be done in different ways and so you must first determine which method is best for your needs. Regardless of which method you want to use, you must start off by setting yourself a goal. In fact, you would not gain much if you dove in headlong and did not plan your marketing campaign. With a plan in mind you can be more focused on achieving your main goals and in this way get the desired results with less trouble or hassles.

You must also consider the benefits of creating a blog that is known to provide a means of increasing traffic to your website. In addition, if you add a blog to your website, you are giving yourself added credibility and the reader too is going to think that you know the Web and in addition, the blog gives you a head start over your competition as well.

Another important factor that needs to be considered in order to make SEO based marketing more effective is to create content that provides the reader with valuable information and which is also unique. Furthermore, the content you create should be meant for human consumption and should not be created with a view to improving your search engine rankings.

You can gain from using SEO based marketing by also making use of free resources and in addition you must explore how to make social networking sites help you create lasting relationships with others.

Many of us are not clear whether to use SEO or to make use of Adwords. Adwords, it must be said, means that you must first pay in order to have your ads hosted and so you have a financial obligation to meet.

SEO of course does not require that you spend any money and in fact it enables you to get no cost traffic to your site and with less effort as well.

Adwords can earn you money but SEO keywords can help improve your search engine rankings and this can easily result in affecting more sales.

In fact, with adwords, there is always the risk that someone else will pay more for their ads and in this way they can beat you out. SEO marketing, however, means that you will regularly receive traffic and all that you will need is to make a onetime effort.

When all is said and done, it is hard to beat SEO based marketing and so there is no sense in wasting your time and money on trying adwords that seldom match SEO in terms of results.

Advantages of SEO compared to PPC

February 26th, 2010

With the current rise of pay per click (PPC) advertising services such as Yahoo Search Marketing, Google and Microsoft adCenter, professional search engine optimization (SEO) companies are having to deal more and more with the issue of why their clients should spend money on traditional SEO when they can simply spend money on PPC and see instant results in the search engines.

Traditional Search Engine Optimization

First I will define what traditional SEO is. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of visitors to a web site from search engines via \”natural\” or un-paid (\”organic\” or \”algorithmic\”) search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. In straightforward terms, SEO is the basic activity of making certain a webpage can be located in search engines for specific words and phrases

Pay Per Click

Now I will define what PPC is using Google Adwords as an example. PPC or pay per click is a service in which an advertiser selects specific keywords or phrases and then creates a listing that will show up when someone searches for that phrase. The advertiser selects an amount they are willing to pay for each click on their listing which results in a visit to their site – thus the term \”pay per click\”. At Google Adwords, you can bid anywhere from $.10 up to $50.00 for each click.

If other advertisers have picked the same keyword or phrase as yours, you then are competing against them for the highest position. Whoever is ready to spend the most shows up first and the others following in order. What PPC has granted one to do then is to easily \”pay\” their way to the top whereas conventional SEO takes a great deal of time and effort.

The overriding question then is how valuable is PPC and should it replace standard search engine optimization techniques?

Pros and Cons of Pay Per Click

First of all you must understand that PPC will never help improve your positioning in the regular editorial search results. PPC listings most always appear in a \”Sponsored or Featured\” area which is usually at the top or side of the regular search results. While it is nice to \”show up first\”, however recent studies by Comscore shows that clicks on paid search results has gone down over time, and is now ~22%. That means 3 out of 4 people will trust the results in the organic listing compared to the results in the PPC listing, and will click on the organic results – which are attributed to SEO.

Pay per click will not optimize your site so that it reflects who you are and what you offer. If your site is poorly optimized before you begin to advertise it with PPC, it will still be poorly optimized afterwards. Furthermore, the cost per click (CPC) is dependent on the \’quality score\’ of your web page. If it is not properly optimized for the search engines using SEO, you will always be paying more for your PPC ads compared to your competitors who have integrated SEO with their PPC advertising campaigns.

On the other hand, a well executed SEO plan will improve your position in the organic search results. You will have a finely tuned web site that reflects who you are and what you offer. One particular client in the dry cleaning business was averaging 8% of their new client acquisitions from their web site. They employed a traditional SEO campaign targeting 7 keyword phrases and are now seeing 83% of new client acquisitions come directly from their web site. They have been maintaining this campaign for a period of 6 months now at a cost of only $100 per month, compared to the $1000 per month they were previously spending on PPC advertising.

Another downfall to PPC is that when you stop paying for PPC advertising, your listings disappears and so does the traffic they bring. With the recent move by many PPC search engines to raise their minimum bid requirements, the prices for keywords are only going to increase over time as more advertisers join the market, bid higher prices for each keyword and fight for the important #1 position in the paid search listing results. With PPC advertising, it\’s a bidding war that favours advertisers with bigger budgets.

In most cases, once you have great positioning in the regular search results via SEO, you will continually receive free targeted traffic. It may require some minor adjustments from time to time but all in all brings in constant free visitors so long as people are searching for your products or services. You aren\’t held hostage to having to constantly throw money at search engines to maintain your listings.

SEO should be the foundation of your online marketing strategy because in the long run, the benefits of SEO will far outweigh anything else you do.
