Find Out More About Adsense Click Fraud

July 4th, 2010

Anyone using Adsense must have heard and read about “Click Fraud”, a well known black hat practice in the Internet Marketing world. What is Click Fraud and how exactly is it been executed? Google Adsense will pay a fraction of the commission earned (from people who pays to have their Ads displayed by Google Search Engines and publishers’ websites) to website owners (anyone that publishes their Ads on their website) whenever the Ads get clicked by visitors searching for specific products and services. Anyone who tries to click on those Ads in order to earn commissions from Google are performing click fraud.

Thousands and thousands of sites have been established with the primary objective of earning commissions from Google Adsense fraudulently. These site owners are able to generate high numbers of clicks using various ways and means that are sophisticated and complex though some are just plain simple and basic. “Hitbots” is one of the more complicated automated software programs in the arket that is capable of faking human-like clicks on those Adsense Ads links.

Find loophole to bypass Google Adsense’s protection mechanism (which is never perfect) is as easy as using Google’s search engine ironically. One way is to buy paid traffic originating from poor countries to click on the Google Ad links. You can earn a fortune by having these type of traffic click on the links all day long. Moreover cost for such paid traffic is low in poor countries like India, probably just $0.50 an hour. However the problem with this technique is that Google will inevitably receive alerts on high click through rate coming from a single address or location and therefore the website with the Adsense banner will be blacklisted and the particular Adsense account will be banned, worst case Google may even take legal action against the fraudster.

Making use of a large number of proxy is yet another method in use for the sole purpose of doing fraudulent clicking. Mostly in US, such Trojans are residing inside computer programs and therefore these such fraudulent clicks will appear to have originate from a innocent office or home based computer. It is never easy to detect such fraud and such activity are rampant in such area and if search engine companies do not step up their security in these areas, the damage to them can be really huge.

Even Though Google has tried its best to protect against such black-hat activities by having strict policy against click fraud and even suing those making use of such techniques, there is definitely room for improvement as it is predicted that 20% of all clicks coming from Ad links are abnormal, basically aiming at getting money from people paying for paid advertising. The fraudulent click percentage could be even higher as there are many illegal schemes going around that has teams of Adsense publishers forming a “click ring” that aims at clicking on each others Adsense sites or even get people to click via spamming means.

Despite Google still holding click fraud on a leash, the phenomenon is certainly raising concerns for the advertisers on AdWords, but despite this advertising with Google’s AdSense still remains more profitable for the advertiser, as opposed to traditional untargeted advertising schemes. There are some means of protection against such schemes and all advertisers should be savvy enough to employ them. Many advertisers choose to avoid the content network all together for fear of click fraud.

I Smell Money…It’s Banner Ads

March 14th, 2010

Google is slapping some advertisers, meaning they have turned off the accounts of some who use AdWords. Additionally even if Google did not ‘slap’ some advertisers, AdWords may not always be the right channel for every vendor. Here is an example, if the average return is 1.5 percent; a $1000 per month campaign will get 100 clicks (at a $10 Cost-Per-Click) and a 1.5 % of a potential client.

Well here is an announcement that could help you…banner advertising is not dead. The banner advertising I am referring to is in the area of placement ads. On Google’s content network you can pick and choose where you want your banner ads to be seen. As with any marketing campaign, Pay-Per-Click, Banner Ads or even print ads, take the time to do research. Would it make sense to have a product or service targeted to women and then place ads on a web site wherein the demographic of the site visitor is overwhelmingly male? Quantcast (.com) and like sites can help you find out where is the best place to advertise. If time is taken to do research, generally a good result is had. Google has an option which allows them to place your ads automatically. Personally, I do not recommend selecting this option as you lose control of your ads. Additionally, this can be a financial sink hole, draining your wallet before the campaign ever gets off the ground.

Taking the time to do the research as to the best sites is a good investment of your time. If you have product dedicated to a target demographic of males, 50 years of age and above, you can use a web site such as Quantcast (.com) and find out where is the best place to advertise. When investigation and study is done better results can be yielded. I do not recommend allowing Google or any other search engine providers to automatically select where your ads can be placed. Using this option will lead to wasting your marketing budget as the SE now has control.

Banner ads present the opportunity for an individual to generate income. A passive income is what many are searching for. AdSense from Google is a good service. This requires one to have a web site wherein these ads can be placed. The ads placed on an AdWords site are not controlled by the site owner. Google places ads relevant to the theme of the web site, and then pays the site owner a portion of every click that is made on the site. Some web masters can buy a website at Template Monster (.com) and have a site ready in just a few hours. With a little promotion via Search Engine Optimization or using social media outlets on a regular basis a following can be built.

Here are some of the items that are taught on the videos; (1) The secret Google PPC tool that will allow you to go deep into any niche, with any offer, and seriously clean up using banner ads. (2) Where to find the exact high traffic _____ that will let you kick your income through the roof. (3) Where to get your ads displayed millions of times, for just PENNIES… if you’ve got even an awful banner, millions of impressions will add up to some serious traffic… and I’ll show you how to make a LOT of money from this.

At $77 to buy the class I thought this was a fair deal. You will waste time searching on the internet trying to find all the stuff these folks rolled into one simple download. Also they are giving an 8 week, completely risk free trial of this system before you need to decide if you’re happy.

Google To Take That PPC And Shove It – Banner Ads Are An Awesome MLM Lead Generator

February 26th, 2010

If you are advertising online with Google PPC, there is no doubt you have experienced or witnessed the dreaded \”Slap\” that is going on with certain home business ads. If this is you, what are you going to do if you get cut off from your favorite paid strategy?

My favorite paid strategy is by far banner ads. I know, you are thinking I\’m nuts because no one uses those old things anyway. Well, keeping thinking that while I\’m using them to generate 5-10 lazer targeted leads every day. If you are interested, read on as I will give you some of the secrets I use to generate MLM leads using this method.

Keyword research is key to any kind of advertising, but much more important here to get the right leads. The way we will use keywords that we are going after is to search for them online and see what kind of sites we get returned. Once we have identified some sites that match our market, we will proceed to find out how to advertise on them. If they don\’t have a place to advertise on their site, they are probably hooked in with a media buying company such as, BuySellAds, BlogAds, etc.

When you are looking through the sites that came back from your keyword search, be sure to pay close attention to the demographics of the users on those sites. The worst thing you could do is advertise your biz op on a site for Teeny Boppers. A couple of great tools for beginning your demographics research are Quantcast and Alexa. These sites both have demo sections that will get you pretty close to the actual site make up.

We know our target market and what they are searching, why don\’t we get our banners. If you are representing an MLM or affiliate, they will probably already have stock banners. If they don\’t you can make some yourself in Photoshop or have an outsourcer handle them for you. You can get some really good banners for a couple of hundred dollars or less. Usually, I will make my own or get them made because I know that everyone else that has access to the stock banners will be using them. I like to stand out from the crowd for some reason.

Here is the best part of banner ads: the prices. There are a couple of different ways to go about placing your ads. One familiar method is PPC (or CPC) and the other is CPM (cost per mille). PPC banner ads usually run under $1 per click depending on the site competition. The CPM ads often average around 50 cents per thousand impressions. If you got two clicks in you thousand impressions, your CPC is on 25 cents per click, which is awesome.

Finally, you will have to determine if your ad will link directly to your offer/ affiliate page or a landing page. Well how do you know which way you should go? A good rule of thumb is anything over $50 should be directed to a landing page in order to sell the prospects prior to getting to the primary offer. If you don\’t send them to a landing page, you will more than likely see a pretty dramatic decrease in conversions.

Guys, I understand that there is really nobody talking about banner advertising, which is a good thing if you can learn to advertise their. You will get lazer targeted clicks often at a lot lower cost than traditional PPC. If you\’ve been hit by Google or are concerned you might be, take control of your lead generation and switch your paid MLM leads strategy to banner ads.
