Quick Ways to Make Money – Keyword Sniping

The technique of \”Keyword Targeting\” is the fastest, cheapest and most efficient way to make money at home online and to achieve SEO optimization. This method of internet marketing is sometimes also referred to as \”Keyword Sniping\” – and it is widely misunderstood by most people.

The idea behind keyword sniping is to look for keyword phrases of three or more words which are relevant to the product being sold. These phrases are known as \”long tail keywords\”.

Yet many people also misunderstand how the term \”long tail keywords\” got its name. The name didn\’t come from the fact that the phrases are long. It comes from a graph of search volume against phrase popularity.

Imagine a simple graph of search volume (low to high) on the vertical scale, and phrase popularity (high to low) on the horizontal. On that scale, broad, popular keywords that are one or two word phrases would have both high popularity and high search volume (and also TREMENDOUS competition). On the other hand, very narrow, specific multi-word phrases would have lower popularity and search volume – and of course, lower competition.

For example, the phrase \”weight loss\” is extremely broad and popular. But with 347 million competitors, it would be impossible to rank on the first page of Google. If you lengthen the phrase, though, the competition goes down dramatically. For example, the phrase \”weight loss after pregnancy\” has 43,600 competitors as of this date, while the phrase \”weight loss programs after pregnancy\” has only 8 competitors.

If you were to place this trend on our imaginary graph, you would find that the broad, popular one or two word phrases would be at the very top. You would then see a very steep \”suicide ski jump\” type curved slope come down as the keyword phrases become narrower and more focused.

The name \”long tail\” comes from the position of these longer, more specific keyword phrases on the long tail of the graph. These phrases are far more numerous than the short, broad ones, and they each have far less competition. That\’s why they are absolutely necessary for any success in making money fast on the Internet.

Of course, they each have far less search volume. But taken together, you can accumulate fairly decent search volume if you have enough of them together in your article marketing campaign. More importantly, you stand a fair chance of ranking on the first page of Google with some of them because the competition is so low.

So far, this has all been theoretical. The question is – does any of it really work? You will find that intuition and instinct, as well as experience will all be factors. But this is where most people misunderstand how to target.

You see, you have to do more than just compare competition to search volume. You must also consider the nature of the competition among your top ten competitors for that phrase. Why? Because unless your phrase appears on the first page of Google, you won\’t get ANY traffic. For example, if each of your top ten competitors has numerous high quality backlinks from credible sites, and they each have a Google PR of 4 or better, you will have problems appearing on the first page of results for that phrase.

Some who are experienced in \”keyword sniping\” will be able to pick out these phrases. They will have a good trade off of competition versus search volume, but they will also be able to compete in the top ten slots.

How? I\’ll discuss the parameters they look for and the tools they use in a future article.
