Top Things To Do To Get On The First Page of Search Engines

February 4th, 2010

If you ever want your online business to be successful the most important things you need to do is make sure your site is optimized for the search engines.

There are alot of things you can do to make sure your website is optimized for search engines.

Keyword Analysis

The first thing I do is find keywords with searches greater than 2000 times every month, and with little or no competition. I consider this to be a very crucial step.

Place your best keyword in the title, meta tags, and the content of each page of your website, along with your other keywords.

Ping

If you want your website to get indexed quicker by the search engines, a great site I go to after my site is up and running is pingler.com

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is where people share their bookmarks on their computer with others, and vice versa. There are hundreds of social bookmark sites out there where you can submit your webiste to.

Map Listings

Bing, Yahoo, and Google all have great online map listings for you to add your business to, and its free which is always a plus.

Ezine, forum, and blog posting.

If you sign up for forums, blogs and ezines preferable within the same niche as you and post with a link to your site in your signature, you will develop more backlinks.

Twitter and Facebook

Two really good social networking sites that I suggest you sign up for are Facebook and Twitter. You can find people interested in the same niche as you and therefore get more traffic to your website.

Classified Ad Submission

Another way to increase your search engine rankings is to add your website the the hundreds of free online classifieds.

Pay per click advertising

Google, Yahoo and Bing all offer a service called pay per click. Basically you pay for them to send customers to your website. You can control how much you want to pay per click too.

Directory Submission

Directory submission will build more backlinks to your website. There are hundreds of them out there too.

Backlinking

More backlinks to your website equals more traffic and a better ranking with the search engines. Backlinking is where you place your website address onto other websites.

Driving Targeted Web Traffic With Web 2.0 Platforms

January 18th, 2010

It\’s not making a website which is the hard part about getting a new online business off the ground – anyone can do that. The hard part is getting visitors to the site; not to mention convincing them to buy something from you. What you\’re going to have to do in order to start bringing in not only visitors, but paying customers is to start using the power of Web 2.0 to drive targeted web traffic to your site. A few ideas follow which you could get started using today, so let\’s get right into it, shall we?

First, the phrase Web 2.0 is not one specific thing, but more of a concept that people want to use web pages that are interactive and dynamic, as opposed to static pages that dominated a decade ago. Web 2.0 tactics for increasing targeted web traffic to your website include using social media sites, social bookmarking sites, and blogs. These are all easy to use, and require varying amounts of time dedicated to them.

The chances are that social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace are things you\’re familiar with already. These kinds of sites tend to come and go, but these two are the most popular at present and are the top choices of website owners trying to drive targeted web traffic to their sites. These sites allow you to create a profile page which tells others about you and your site and why they may be interested in visiting.

In order to make sure that other users of the social networks stay interested in your page is to keep updating the content regularly. If someone comes to your page and sees you haven\’t updated it in six months, they\’re not nearly as likely to visit your site. Online, people are looking for the latest information, so you need to make sure that you stick to a regular daily, weekly or biweekly update schedule.

If you don\’t have a profile on one of these social networks, the time to make one is now; since it only takes a couple of minutes, just go ahead and set one up right now. It\’s not essential to install all of the many add-ons available or to decorate your page right now. You can do this later; and it is easier than you think to overdo it with the bells and whistles and actually lose potential customers. When you have your profiles set up on these two popular social networks, start searching for people you already know – there\’s probably quite a few people in your life who use Facebook or MySpace already.

The immensely popular social media platform Twitter is something you should already be using (if not, sign up right after you read this, even before you create your social networking profiles). Among its many uses, Twitter is an easy way to add updated content to your Facebook and MySpace pages, among others. Just go to the settings tab in your Twitter account and then down to account and select the \”you can also add Twitter to your site here\” option. This will give you the option of adding your Twitter feed to your social networking profile pages, Blogger blogs and more. Twitter will provide you with code to copy and paste on to these pages and that\’s all there is to it! After doing this, your Twitter posts will automatically be added to these sites as you make them.

Social bookmarking sites are sites like Digg.com that allow people to highlight web content that they like and share it with the rest of the world. Can you bookmark your own pages? Sure. Just set up an account at Digg and follow the directions for \”Digging\” a particular page. If other people have seen your page, or go to your page and like it, they can add their support to your Digg, which will encourage other people to check it out too. A page that gets a number of Diggs also gets increased targeted web traffic.

A blog has become de rigeur for business oriented sites of all sorts. These are one of the most useful tools for any business; readers can subscribe to your blog content by means of an RSS feed, which notifies them of new content as it is posted. A blog can do a lot for your traffic, as long as you remember to update this page on a regular basis. This isn\’t as difficult as you might think – blog posts tend to be short and casual in tone, so this is a good place to mention new products and services as well as news about your business. Just as with your social networking profile pages, you can add a Twitter feed to your blog as well, giving this page another source of regularly updated content.

The above are just a couple of the many methods of using the possibilities of Web 2.0 to increase targeted traffic to your website. While there are many more to try, these will help to get your site off to a strong start.

Best Wishes to you. B. L. Marlow

Blogging Myths Shattered

November 13th, 2009

A huge trail of controversies and myths still continue to exist within the blogosphere. This article was written to dispel some of the blog myths outlined below.

Anyone can start a blog. Not just anyone! Obviously, you should know how to use the computer, need an Internet connection and some experience using the Internet. You also need a host for your blogs; there are blog hosts that are free and some that cost a small amount per month. One last requirement is not just an ability to communicate your thoughts but also a willingness to do so.

Anyone can set up a blog. It all depends on your blog hosts. Some blogs hosts have simpler user interface and in minutes your blogs will be up in minutes. But there are others that get far more technical than the average users may be ready for.

Blogging is grade-school. When in comes to blogging, it’s the actual writing that’s the toughest nut to crack. The more engaged and knowledgeable you are with your subject, the easier and more interesting your writing will be.

Most blogs are political. Many blogs focus on political topics but most blogs are just bloggers discussing their lives, loves and travels.

Blogs are in competition with the main-stream media. This is true in a few cases (not as many cases as bloggers would have you think). Just recently, there have been some very popular and influential social and politically-oriented blogs that have caused main-stream media outlets to back-track and change their coverage of important events.

Bloggers are just having fun criticizing everyone and everything and have no new information to add. True in some cases. Today, blogging is much more than the personal activity it used to be. Corporations, media outlets, public personalities, politicians and experts in almost every field have now joined the ranks of blog producers. Considering all this expertise, one would have to say that bloggers have a lot of new information to add to any debate.

Blogs don’t always tell the truth. That’s a bit of an overstatement. You may read bad information and even intentional untruths in blogs but, for the most part, bloggers who state facts are stating what they honestly believe to be fact. It is always up to the readers to verify that any information they receive is accurate information.

6 Internet Marketing Myths to Deflect

September 13th, 2009

Get to know the 6 internet marketing myths listed below before you even begin jumping onto the internet marketing bandwagon. These myths, if left unchallenged, will waste your time, drain your energy and empty your pockets. See if they fall into your hands and situation.

Myth #1: Internet Marketing is Easily Done

Though it is comparatively easier to traditional brick-and mortar businesses, internet marketing still involves a lot of work. Internet marketing is not easy. It takes time, effort not to mention money and anyone who suggests otherwise is kidding me.

Myth #2: ANYONE Can Make Money Online

Unless you get off your couch and read everything you can about internet marketing then put your plans into action, you will never make a dime on the internet.

Myth #3: You Can “GET RICH QUICK” On the Net!

It just won’t happen overnight, instead do some research and find out what people really want and need then give it to them. Scammers make the “get rich quick scheme” sounds so easy, a trap that a lot of newbie internet marketers falls into.

Myth #4: It’s FREE to Do Business Online

Once you have your domain set up, you only pay for internet connection, advertising and ongoing educations, that’s it. Internet business start-up cost and maintenance cost is pretty low, compared to opening your first coffee shop or gift shop in downtown Los Angeles. You can’t expect to make money selling free stuff and ask others to do the same.

Myth #5: It’s TOO LATE to Start an Internet Business

It’s never ever too late to start anything and that includes internet business. Every year the stats will show you the number of people shopping online are increasing, their spending dollars are growing and the number of people going online is increasing also.

Myth #6: The BIG Money Talk is JUST HYPE

Although you will be hard pressed to find experienced internet marketers to tell how much they spend on promoting and advertising, the truth is, it takes money to make money in internet marketing.

It may take some time, but if you stick to these things, you will surely make every penny you spent on your online business worthwhile as you go successful in internet marketing.
