Content Writing SEO – Making Artificial Keywords Into Natural Keywords

February 17th, 2010

Keywords and SEO.

The use of keywords throughout a website is one major part of search engine optimization (SEO). Most often the actual density (amount of times that phrase occurs) and the placements of them are hot topics that are often talked about. The fact that keywords play a large role in SEO is a proven fact, however due to google and the other search engines changing their algorithm constantly it can seem difficult to keep up with the trends. However luckily for you there are always factual guideline that you can follow and approach SEO successfully.

Staying Ahead Of SEO.

It can be difficult to say at any given time what the keyword rules are when it comes to SEO content writing, but there are always common worst-practice factors that should be avoided completely. That is, search engines like Google will not only ignore your website content but they will actively penalize you for certain things.

Spamming!

Do you like getting junk and spam email in your inbox or through your door? nope didn\’t think so and nor does google either! When search engines first began it use to be \’acceptable\’ to just have hundreds or thousands of keywords all over your website and no useful text at all, otherwise known as keyword stuffing. However fortunately now that is not the case at all and any website who uses keyword stuffing will face a big penalty. Ok yep keywords are important but you also have to make sure the visitor enjoys coming to your site.

So, What Is The \’Correct\’ Keyword Density Then?

The exact keyword density that is considered correct is typically said to be 5 to 10%. However other\’s believe they can use a keyword density of up to 20% and still not get penalized by google or the other search engines. At 10% as a maximum mark this shows that your site is highly relevant to the keyword and yet still leaves you room to give a good article and nice content for your reader… thus it is not really spammy and your not having to change your article over and over again to fit the keyword in more and more times.

Warning!

Having a keyword density of 20% or even higher is really not all that natural (unless you actually just can\’t write or think of an alternative phrase to use every so often too). It is considered as trying to find a loophole in the search engine to get ranked higher, but the search engines job and what they work 24/7 on is to provide the best content for it\’s users and if your using the keyword 20% or more then in their eyes you are really trying to gain the system. So keep it at a max of around 10% and you will see success for a long time.

Not Crossing The Line.

What you want to be doing is combining informative and helpful content along with your keyword and make sure it appeals both to your visitor and the search engines itself.

The Difference Between Artificial And Natural Keywords?

When you are writing an article or any content for a website then you will notice that as you are writing you keep repeating the same phrase or word\’s over and over again throughout the article, these are your natural keywords. However normally when you are just writing on a subject the keywords that you keep repeating are usually the ones with the higher competition even if they have alot more searches. The alternative is to do some keyword research before and choose keywords to use that are longer but have less searches and less competition so getting those top spots and the search engine traffic is made a lot easier.

Replacing The Natural With The Artificial Keywords.

What you now want to do is go back through that article and see what keyword appears a lot of times and then replace it with the longer one. Sometimes this might not make the article flow however with a few more edits to the text around it too then it will soon make a lot of sense and be based on the keyword with the correct density.

Start From The Beginning With Your Artificial Keywords.

Another method is to look for your artificial keywords before you begin and make sure you have them in the back (or the front) of your mind when you sit down to write your website content. Because you are already thinking of the phrase you want to use you will naturally include it within the content of your site. It\’s not a trick, although you may want to consider it a subliminal tactic if you wish, but it will work.

The Keyword Conversion Results.

By converting your artificial keywords into natural keywords you should be able to effectively optimize pages towards both search engines and your visitors and this will mean improved search engine rankings as well as improved conversion rates. Even a small increase in visitors combined with a small increase in conversion rates will show a good level of increase in your income so you should not overlook this technique.

Keyword Elite – The Most Useful Keyword Research Software?

February 8th, 2010

Making use of proper keyword research is crucial part of making money online. And finding the right tools for this task is important. The right keyword tool will allow you to efficiently come up with relevant keywords and optimize your campaigns in no time.

The tool that I recommend to most people is called Keyword Elite. With it, you can generate large lists of keywords super quickly. The software is able to find out what keywords are part of your target niche and how much you are expected to pay for them. The software makes use of keyword data found on the Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask.com search engines. Keyword Discovery and WordTracker members can also put their data into Keyword Elite for more detailed results.

The product also has some useful spying abilities which allow you to track your competitors behind their back. You can create projects for everyone you want to spy on and watch them at all times. Now you have the advantage of taking the best parts of what they are doing and utilizing them yourself.

Keyword Elite is not the most elegant looking program around, but it is still quite usable. I like the way the filters are designed which enable you to more easily find what you are looking for. By looking only at the relevant keywords, you can don\’t have to worry about all the irrelevant stuff that other programs return.

Keyword Elite is a great program for niche marketers. With the software, you can efficiently discover a ton of valuable information on your niche and the products people are buying in that market. By focusing on niches with little competition, you can easily enter and take over that niche for yourself.

Keyword Elite does have a few flaws. The user interface could be enhanced, and it would be nice to have more export formats. The software is not cheap either as it was created for big time internet marketers. Even so, there is only a one time cost to buy this tool so if you really want to make some money online, Keyword Elite is a tool you will want to spend money on.

I hope you liked this Keyword Elite review. Make sure to take a look at my blog for more tips and tricks on taking advantage of the new Keyword Elite software.

Quick Ways to Make Money – Keyword Sniping

February 6th, 2010

The technique of \”Keyword Targeting\” is the fastest, cheapest and most efficient way to make money at home online and to achieve SEO optimization. This method of internet marketing is sometimes also referred to as \”Keyword Sniping\” – and it is widely misunderstood by most people.

The idea behind keyword sniping is to look for keyword phrases of three or more words which are relevant to the product being sold. These phrases are known as \”long tail keywords\”.

Yet many people also misunderstand how the term \”long tail keywords\” got its name. The name didn\’t come from the fact that the phrases are long. It comes from a graph of search volume against phrase popularity.

Imagine a simple graph of search volume (low to high) on the vertical scale, and phrase popularity (high to low) on the horizontal. On that scale, broad, popular keywords that are one or two word phrases would have both high popularity and high search volume (and also TREMENDOUS competition). On the other hand, very narrow, specific multi-word phrases would have lower popularity and search volume – and of course, lower competition.

For example, the phrase \”weight loss\” is extremely broad and popular. But with 347 million competitors, it would be impossible to rank on the first page of Google. If you lengthen the phrase, though, the competition goes down dramatically. For example, the phrase \”weight loss after pregnancy\” has 43,600 competitors as of this date, while the phrase \”weight loss programs after pregnancy\” has only 8 competitors.

If you were to place this trend on our imaginary graph, you would find that the broad, popular one or two word phrases would be at the very top. You would then see a very steep \”suicide ski jump\” type curved slope come down as the keyword phrases become narrower and more focused.

The name \”long tail\” comes from the position of these longer, more specific keyword phrases on the long tail of the graph. These phrases are far more numerous than the short, broad ones, and they each have far less competition. That\’s why they are absolutely necessary for any success in making money fast on the Internet.

Of course, they each have far less search volume. But taken together, you can accumulate fairly decent search volume if you have enough of them together in your article marketing campaign. More importantly, you stand a fair chance of ranking on the first page of Google with some of them because the competition is so low.

So far, this has all been theoretical. The question is – does any of it really work? You will find that intuition and instinct, as well as experience will all be factors. But this is where most people misunderstand how to target.

You see, you have to do more than just compare competition to search volume. You must also consider the nature of the competition among your top ten competitors for that phrase. Why? Because unless your phrase appears on the first page of Google, you won\’t get ANY traffic. For example, if each of your top ten competitors has numerous high quality backlinks from credible sites, and they each have a Google PR of 4 or better, you will have problems appearing on the first page of results for that phrase.

Some who are experienced in \”keyword sniping\” will be able to pick out these phrases. They will have a good trade off of competition versus search volume, but they will also be able to compete in the top ten slots.

How? I\’ll discuss the parameters they look for and the tools they use in a future article.

The Ins and Outs of Keyword Research

December 1st, 2009

To succeed in the game of search engine optimization you must focus on effective keyword research. By choosing the right keywords you can achieve search engine dominance. I have personally worked with dozens of clients seeking number one rankings but who have given adequate focus on keyword research. This is all that more important when your site is competing against well ranked sites that have been in the top ranking for some time.

The first step is finding a keyword that isn’t all that competitive. Once you do, the next step is to make sure that the keyword you have selected gets enough traffic. Don’t overlook this important aspect of keyword research. I worked with a company that was proud of their number one rankings. When I did some research to discover the type of traffic they could expect, I found less than one hundred searches per month on the keyword they selected. Even with top rankings, they would never see the traffic anticipated.

Assuming that you have been able to find a search phrase that doesn’t have a great deal of competition and generates enough traffic, it’s time to look at your competition. You are competing against other web sites who currently rank in the top few positions for your chosen keyword. Research each of these top ranked sites to determine their Google page rank, age, and the number of sites linking to them. The more inbound links they have the more difficult they will be to outrank.

After doing your research and confirming your choice of keywords and keyword phrases, it’s time to concentrate on improving your web pages. Enhance your meta tags, titles, and web copy to include your keyword phrases. This helps to tell the search engines what your web site is about so it can rank your site appropriately. In addition to the on page factors, Google weighs off page factors to decide web site ranking. Off page optimization requires a sustained effort that uses new content and additional links from third party websites. The most effective strategies are the most basic. Begin with a link building plan. Focus on article directories, web site directories, blogs, social bookmarking sites, and other resources where you can establish in bound links.

Your plan should include daily, weekly and monthly tasks that can attract links from authority websites consistently over time. Your goal should not be to generate thousands of inbound links quickly because Google will penalize your website. Rather, focus on steady link building. If you want to improve your organic search engine ranking, begin with keyword research. By selecting the right keywords, you’ll be able to optimize your website more quickly than your competitors. After choosing the right keywords, integrate your chosen keywords into your web site. Then you’re ready for link building and other off page optimization tactics that significantly improve rankings.
