In recent years, however, the MySpace has been replaced by a newer, more functional social networking site. When Fox purchased MySpace for $320 million everyone thought it they were making a great deal. MySpace was riding high and it seemed like it would do so indefinitely.

Everyone who wanted to connect online was on MySpace and had created their own pages. It allowed users to do fun things like play your favorite song when people visited your page. Or you could use a “skin” on your page to change its appearance. MySpace was very popular for a time.

The beginning of the end for MySpace was in 2008. Millions of people began leaving MySpace in favor of Facebook. Some have kept both accounts and but used Facebook as their primary account. Now, not many people use MySpace as their only social networking account.

MySpace didn’t lose popularity overnight and there are many reasons why people found a new outlet for social networking. MySpace was considered by many to be slow to respond to users with questions and suggestions. It was only recently that they added an updates system. Facebook has been using one for years.

Marketing also had something to do with the population decline on MySpace. Many people thought that MySpace wasn’t inclusive. It wasn’t seen as a place where people of all ages congregated.
