Twitter Is Your Source For Qualified Leads

August 27th, 2009

At this point everyone has heard about the Twitter phenomenon and either have their own account or know someone who does. If you’re like me you’re probably wondering with the attraction to Twitter is but more importantly what it can do for you. Marketers are discovering the value that Twitter has from a number of different vantage points.

As someone who resisted Twitter for quite some time, I finally dove in and learned what all of the excitement was about. Similar to other social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, and others, Twitter provides a forum for real time communication. It connects us all and brings us closer to others with similar interests.

What if you could find influential people in your industry and directly listen to them, learn from them, and have insight into what they’re focused on? Enter Twitter and the ability to search, find, and follow those in your industry. You may be surprised by all the people out there in your niche sharing ideas, news, and information. By following these people you can stay on top of industry trends and learn a great deal.

Once you have established a good list of people to follow, you can add others to your list that are either outside your industry or perhaps bring something else of value to your day to day activities. What’s great about developing a list of experts to follow is that you are in control and can either start or stop following people at will. This is a great way to focus your efforts and get value from everyone you follow.

Just like you follow others, others can determine that they want to follow you on Twitter. You might be asking what the purpose or point of building a list of followers may be. This depends on what you are trying to accomplish with Twitter. If your goal is to use it casually, then you may be looking to build a list of followers among your friends. If you are interested in Twitter for business purposes, you should consider your list of followers just like you would a house list that you market to on a regular basis.

After building a solid list that is comprised of followers that value what you have to say and offer by way of free information, consider how you can encourage them to move through your purchase process. One tip is to offer free information that they can register for or download from your site. You can use an auto responder to help move them through to the purchase of a product or service you or your company has to offer. This is one of many ways to benefit from Twitter.

Twitter can provide an ideal channel for building a list of prospective followers and adding value. Begin with an understanding of your audience and provide valuable information that can help them succeed. Once you’ve build up a trust level, offer products or services that can help them solve a problem. This will improve your business and help your followers as well.

Twitter Marketing Strategies, 5 Ways to Explode Your Business With Twitter

August 26th, 2009

It’s no big secret twitter is huge. In fact it’s quickly becoming the most highly effective way to drive traffic to any website. The problem is understanding how twitter marketing really works. “Tweets” or messages are short limited to 140 characters and so you need to be quick and to the point.

Here are five strategies you can use on Twitter to help grow your business.

* Keep it Real. Be a real person and share your thoughts, dreams, frustrations and others things on twitter. It just doesn’t always have to be about your next business proposal. Learn to connect with people beyond the business realm and be social. After all isn’t that what social marketing is about?

* Be Controversial. There’s an old saying that you can’t please everyone all the time so use that to your advantage. Being controversial attracts attention so in your “tweets” be opinionated and it just may surprise you how many followers you gain.

* Tweet about Nothing. Again no one comes to twitter to be sold a product and no one definitely comes to twitter looking for a deal. So instead why not just have some fun, tweet about everything and nothing, just remember to keep it interesting and people will follow what you do.

* Yoda for your thoughts. Everyone loves positive thinking quotes and people go nuts over these kinds of “tweets”. In the end you just might spark some attention or make someone’s day because of a quote or two you posted.

* Be Cool Man. Again, you have to realize that no one come to twitter to be sold something so remember this when it comes to your twitter marketing approach. Most people come to twitter to post about a funny video they saw on Youtube, or to comment about the news and just plain hang out. So why not give them what they want. Surf around find something worth posting about and then “tweet” about it.

The whole point behind the article is to get you away from directly thinking about twitter marketing from a traditional marketing point of view because that just doesn’t work. Try it and you’ll quickly find yourself losing all your followers. Instead be a real person, interact with people, have fun and “tweet” about stuff people enjoy. In the end you’ll still gain all the visitors your looking for to your website not because of your tweets but because of who you are.
