If you have a website and you have done any research at all, you will have no doubt read about building your brand through social media. If you’re a newbie, you may have had to google “social media” to discover what it is. There seems to be a lot of disagreement about just what constitutes social media.
As the name implies, it is all internet media designed for social interaction. The advice you have probably been given by the “gurus” included the article directories and almost always has come with a whiz bang automated submissions tool attached to the free advice.
It’s not that their advice is bad. It is important to get your articles out to as many directories as you can. But whose sooper-dooper automated traffic generating program should you buy. The answer to that is easy. Don’t buy it if you can try it for free. Use a free service.
Blogs cannot be created using any existing automated program. They have to be done manually. That’s why they don’t get a lot of press – there’s nothing to be sold. Don’t make the mistake of overlooking blogging just because it makes you work a little. There are some ways to speed it up, but you will still have to do much of the work yourself.
If you look around, you will find a great little form filling program. You just type in your username, password and all the other information you need for creating a blog. You can use the same info for every blog, so you only do it once, then its automated except for the captcha.
Secondly, after you have written several articles, you can submit them to all the blog sites. You don’t need original content for each. Some, like WordPress and Blogger, hate anything that looks like spam, so if your articles are loaded with links and keywords, you may want to tone it down for these two very important sites.
There is no need to pay money for your software, at least not at first and not until you know what you’re doing. There is always a need to put some work into building your brand through social media, though. There’s really no way around that.
