Damien Hirst's latest artwork is this life-size platinum skull encrusted with 8,601 fine diamonds. The sculpture, titled "For The Love of God," will likely sell for as much as $100 million, making it the priciest contemporary artwork ever made. White Cube gallery is selling several limited edition silkscreen prints of the work, priced from £900 to £10,000, for one sprinkled with diamond dust.

Many Faces of Internet Marketing ? Nah, not for most of us this 100 Million dollar piece.

 

Today, the Telegraph.co.uk had this image on the front page. It’s a picture of Diamien Hirst’s 100 Million dollar lice sized skull plastered ( yes, thats my own terminology ) with 8,601 pieces of near worthless but incredibly hard pieces of glass.

Well, that wasn’t quite accurate, it wasn’t glass – those clear colored pieces really were diamonds but insofar as there are already over a billion pieces of registered white diamond stones, there is little intrinsic value in them.

Does this contrast with what I said above about a 100 Million dollar valuation?
