Investing while the market is crashing around one’s ears. What an absolutely mad thought? Or is it?

Even yoda might have trouble figuring out the current market environment. In a world of falling prices, how can wealth be protected? I have some news for you. Even in a falling market, wealth can be not just preserved; it can be created. With just a few simple techniques, I’ll show you how to supersize your portfolio.

Shorting stock. The phrase sends a blood-curdling chill down many a buy-and-hold investors spine, frightening them into a shock-induced state of confusion. Yet for masters of this easier-then-it-sounds technique, its an extremely profitable oasis within the uncompromising desert that is this bear. Confused? Its like this… the vast majority of investors only buy stocks. When you buy a stock, there are two ways to make money. Stock price appreciation (buy low, sell high), and dividends. Which is all well and good when the market is going up, but for markets such as the one we’re currently embroiled in, we need a whole different animal.

To short a stock is essentially to sell it, and then buy it at a later date. Counter-intuitive, no? In the shorting process, you borrow the stock from your broker, sell it on the open market, and when the price has fallen sufficiently, you buy it back again, and return it to your broker.

An example… In late August 2008, Ford was trading for around 4.50. If you decided to short 100 shares of ford at that point, then you would borrow 100 shares of Ford from your broker and sell them for a total of $450. In late October 2008, Ford was down to the 2.25 range. At that point, you could buy back the 100 shares you sold for $225, return the 100 shares to your broker, and all in all, you made $225. In essence, you sold high, then bought low. Its just like buying low, and selling high – it just operates in reverse. This would be a good time to re-read this paragraph, its that important.

Another way to think of shorting stocks is to own a negative number of shares… If you own 100 shares of a stock, and it goes down $10, then you lost $1000. If you own -100 shares of a stock (or your short 10 shares of a stock), and it goes down 10$ then you gain $1000. Of course, if the unthinkable happens, and the stock appreciates by 10$, then your down $1000 (What, did you think it was riskless?).

Even still, shorting stocks has risks. If you choose the one stock of 100 that is about to start trending upwards, you could lose some money on that. Different sectors of the economy may also be effected by events that cause exceptions to the “everything goes down in bear markets” rule. The recent auto bailout could feasibly cause industrials to go up for a while, so shorting industrials could choose to be a bad choice. The biggest risk is that the bear market turns into a bull market while your not paying attention – that could rack up losses on many positions at once.

A typical risk-management choice many professionals use is the 5% rule. When your trading stocks, don’t risk more then 5% of your portfolio on any one position, and preferably less. So with the $20000 portfolio, risk no more then $1000 on a trade. This doesn’t mean you can’t invest more then $1000 per trade. It just means that your stop loss should be triggered before $1000 is lost. So if you short a stock at $20, and have a stop loss at $25, then you can buy up to 200 shares (far more then the actual value of your portfolio). If your time span is shorter, then you should use a smaller percentage, while if your timespan is longer then a couple months, the 5% rule could be adjusted as high as 10% (for the risk-tolerant).

In a bear market, there is just one, singularly important, yet amazingly simple truth that must always be kept in mind. Everything’s going down. Throw 3 random letters together, and pull up a stock chart, and every time, you’ll see declining prices throughout a bear market. With this in mind, shorting is the only thing that makes sense. Masters of this technique have been pulling millions in from the market since the dawn of the last century. As far back as the 1929 crash, Jesse Livermore made $100 MILLION using this technique. In a strong bear market, shorting ETF’s and Stock can be a brutally efficient cash machine.

Many small businesses struggle with the decision of whether to operate from a home-based office or to rent commercial space. Working from a home-office where many of your expenses are already paid definitely saves money and can reduce the risk that would exist if you were locked into a rental agreement for office space.

Many considerations must be kept in mind when you are deciding whether to operate your business from your home or to lease office space. Some of these considerations are financial, while others relate to the effect of working from home on your personal life.

Most small-business owners start their businesses with very limited funds, and therefore financial considerations are important. Whether or not you have your business in your home, you are paying the mortgage or rent, utilities, property taxes, maintenance, and a host of other costs. At first it might seem as if it would be “free” to have your business operate out of your house. However, this supposition is not as clear-cut as it first appears. Consider the following issues:

Your house insurance may not cover a business. You may have to get a separate insurance policy to cover the loss of business assets in your home or to cover the interruption in your business if something catastrophic happens, such as a burst water pipe. This is an added expense you will have to factor into your decision.

The zoning of your neighbourhood may be residential only and may not allow a business to operate. Check with your local zoning office to find out whether it’s even possible for you to operate out of your home. Zoning officials will most likely ask how many clients you expect to have in the house and what type of and how much parking you have available. You may have to pay extra fees or property taxes to the municipality to operate a business out of your home.

You will be subsidizing the operating costs of your business. This will definitely help to save money in the start-up phase of your business, but it may allow you to operate a business that wouldn’t survive without that subsidy. All businesses that are built on successful and sustainable models can pay all of their expenses and provide a return to the owners. Your business, if it is to be successful and have value that can be transferred to a buyer, must eventually be able to operate from leased or purchased premises. Not paying any premises expenses may lull you into thinking that your business is successful when it is truly not.

If you work from home in the start-up period but plan to move to a separate location in the future, make sure you have tracked that cost in your cash-flow projections. Am I suggesting that you have to move your business out of your home eventually? Of course not. You may decide that the convenience (which we will discuss later in the book) and the financial savings outweigh the other considerations. However, it’s important that you assess your business to make sure it could survive if you had to rent space.

In short, T Harv Eker is a millionaire, but more than that he is an inspiration to hundreds of thousands of people – and counting. With that said I didn’t think he had anything new to teach me when I went to check out his Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

He doesn’t pull any punches when he shows you how to achieve all your dreams, and I’m amazed at how much I found out. Does the Peak Potentials Training seminar give you everything it says it will? You bet it does, and you’ll regret it if you don’t go.

The book T Harv Eker wrote on the subject, “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”, explains the concept in detail but it’s just a fraction of what he reveals once he arrives on stage. This guy is on fire with enthusiasm and it spreads to everyone in the room.

So what did I learn? I learned that you don’t go on the Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar without having your entire life blown apart and then put back together again. But more than that, I learned that it’s your mind that shapes your future.

If you aren’t prepared to change what you’re doing now, then T Harv Eker’s methods won’t be for you. He doesn’t leave anything out when it comes to creating a new money blueprint for yourself, so you’d better be ready for it.

This isn’t just T Harv Eker standing on stage talking to you; he goes into real detail and works with you to help you realise why you’ve failed to make vast amounts of money up until now. He doesn’t offer individual tuition which is a shame, but he’d have no life left for himself if he did!

Peak Potentials Training certainly does work for those people who go with an open mind, so make sure you go with one. The experience of hearing T Harv Eker revealing the reasons why no one in the room was earning what they wanted to be earning was awesome. I don’t think about my income the same way I used to.

To get the best out of this Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar you need to pay attention to what Harv tells you. You really can earn whatever you want to and T Harv Eker will help you make that a reality.

His book, “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” is sensational, but it’s not a patch on the seminar itself. You’ll find out more about money and how you earn it than you ever dreamed possible. Even people who are currently doing well in a financial sense end up doing better.

T Harv Eker knows how money blueprints can make or break lives – yours included. I’m already earning more money, and my new improved money blueprint is still developing! My previous money blueprint would have kept me from real success – but it won’t now.

One of the most important gadgets that we need today is a hidden spy cam. The right appliance provides us with a perfect surveillance required in a big or a small house or the working environment. Life is busy. So today we have very less time to keep an eye on all the people who are working with us. Keeping an eye on every person requires frequent observation and frequent observation requires a spy cam. Observing has a good reason because this can be done without any time with the help of the spy cam.

While surfing on the internet I found out that there are a variety of cameras which vary from big industrial and institutional to single home users. We can choose according to our preference. For me all time is a good benefit time with my new CCTV camera. Surveillance was never been so easier. Moreover keeping an eye at the baby sitter and on the staff is more fun for me now. I feel that for accuracy and the best results in surveillance, we should go in for a spy cam. The spy cam can be ideal equipment for everyone, even for those who have a small house in their apartments or a small cabin in their offices.

The spy cam helps to keep an eye on the culprit and using it is a pleasure with its best performance and the convenient features. Whether the work place or the house is big or small, security has to be given to it. For the better performances, spy cam is the proper device which can help us in completing our task more efficiently. My knowledge says that you will discover surveillance very thrilling and will have an inspirational occurrence. These days what issues us the most is leading a trouble-free standard of living.

With a flick of a button we can manage to handle everything the way we want to and keep a regular watch on the trouble makers and watch the wonders. Spy cams may be necessary for us, but they can be fun to use too. I own a coffee caf and have hundreds of people visiting it everyday. There are 3-5 coffee machines in my caf. I have appointed many people for the smooth flow of my coffee caf and I am very controlling and I always consider that I have to give the best service to my customers. I cannot do this alone. I cannot be at all the places at one time.

With the help of this camera, I can easily spot the movements of the employees and I am satisfied with the type of work they do for my restaurant. They are very honest and this is proved by the every movement which the CCTV camera captures. It really works wonders. We all should install these teddy bear camera for our own comfort. A variety of these cameras are available with all the leading websites of the country. We can buy them online through the internet. We can choose according to our basic needs and place an order for it on the website itself and our product will be shipped to us within a limited period of time.

If you are one among those who have no other alternative but to entrust your little one in hands of a nanny but are always worried about their safety all the time? Or what your employees do when you’re not at your business? If there has been a theft or mishandling of staff then as an employer installing a spy cam to inspect everyone will put an end to all those intruders.

If you are thinking of getting yourself a Spy cam in your office or home, then you will have to choose from wireless or wired options. The wireless however as the name implies will have no physical wire between the VCR and the gadget. The counterpart the wired makes it difficult to be disguised due to its clutter of wires that are present.

A nanny cam is just like any other object that is right in front of you but has a camera installed in it. This high tech video camera can be placed in any part of your home. The options can range from your mundane furniture to a toy with which the baby plays with. You can find even nanny cams installed even in wall clocks at the www.my-spycam.com. Times have changed and technology has left its mark on every sphere of life. The most alluring benefit of this cameras are that they are so light weight and easy to place anywhere.

With a wireless pen camera at your aid, you can keep a closer watch on the childcare that you have for your toddler. The whole point of a wireless gadget is to be easily disguised into anything so light weight that can easily be handled. The installation package that comes along with any purchase makes using it a piece of cake. The instruction manual is easy to use and be fitted within no time.

Every electronic gadget has its own limitations, it has a range in which the receiving equipment can capture the data, and this one has only for about 150 feet indoors. For hidden supervision and a closer eye on the people and surroundings you can hide it in anything you can possibly imagine. You can record on any device be it a VCR or monitor. You don’t have to go over budget to own one of your own; they are all available at affordable prices. These economical nanny cams will put a rest to all your whims. Now you don’t have to worry any more constantly about the childcare service that you have for your toddler.

There are many shops available in the market but if you always wanted a bargain and want the security product at an unbeatable price then my-spy cam portal is the one for you. This online site is so simple and right in the comfort of your home you will make your purchase. They have all the possible options that you ever wanted for security within your home and business. Now by making a simple choice you will have all the trust back in your nanny or keep a vigilant eye on the intruders.

Are you on the hunt for a free paid survey list? Are you confused by the many websites offering to sell you one? Can you tell the difference between a legit site and a bogus operation? You need the best list possible, but you don’t want to get scammed!

If you are looking at sites that promise the best most up to date listings for free paying surveys on the net, but require a fee to access that information, forget it. You are in the wrong place! The best survey sites are working as the go-between for the research company and you, and won’t ask for a dime.

Sites that claim to have special information or unrealistic results are simply trying to take you for a ride. You should never hand over money for the privilege of getting a job – the point of employment is for you to MAKE money, not to spend it! There are plenty of sites out there that have free paid survey lists.

It is nice to be able to find a free paid survey list prepared for you, but you shouldn’t have to cough up cash for it! The middlemen from the survey sites are already getting a kickback from the research companies for providing survey takers. Don’t let them double dip off of you!

Don’t be fooled by sites that try to sell you ‘free’ paid survey lists. If they are dishonest enough to try and charge you, then some of the surveys they offer may not be legit either! You have to keep a lookout for scams to avoid being taken advantage of. Find the right site, on the other hand, and you will have more free paying surveys than you can handle!

A good sign when you are looking for free paid survey lists is a solid description of each company listed. Avoid ones that don’t give pertinent information, like average pay per survey, or time between taking the survey and getting paid. They should also tell you up front if you will be expected to participate in any offers to qualify for the survey.

Double check the lists from the survey sites with your own research. Even the best site can mistakenly include a new free paying survey that turns out to be a scam! Make your own list of the most promising companies and check them out online to see what kind of experiences others have had with them.

Finally you are ready to start taking free paying surveys! Once you’ve made your choices of companies to work for, get yourself registered and prepare to fill out profiles. The more time you spend on these now, the more money you can make later! Once you become established, you can be cashing out weekly just from taking surveys!

A problem that plagues many bloggers who want to attract visitors to their web site is how to write the perfect blog post. Itas not hard to get lost in a jumble of words when you start blogging, especially if your thoughts are typically scattered in your every day life.

To keep everything linear and organize everything you want to say and piece the puzzle of your thoughts together. Making clear and coherent, entertaining sentences. Your personal style will come naturally and keep your blog post from sounding too forced.

Before you start writing, THINK! Take them fingers off the keys and do not just start typing. Whatever comes to mind is a jumble mess of thoughts that only you can understand. You need to have a message and a way to convey it. When it comes to a log of your day, please start at the beginning. Whenever discussing something that could be thought of as controversial remember that the whole world isnat going to agree with you. Try writing with the goal of convincing the reader.

Bullet points are your friends, when organizing your thoughts. Also, bold lettering can show that something is important. Remember that you have tools available to you other than just plain text. If you post is boring looking possible readers wonat read it. How exciting your blog looks will determine how excited your readers will be to view it.

Illustrate your post with the help of imagery and photographs. This can add a personal touch, so that your readership will have you in mind. Video is a way for you to forget about all the typing and just speak to your audience. They will get to see and hear and understand your message

Getting your readers involved in the conversation you are starting is key, and rather its more important than a perfect blog post. Think about using a website traffic generator to get more hits, if your blog isnat quite popular yet. Finding free website traffic is possible online.

Commenting back to your readers messages, and continuing discussions with your active readers is huge. They will feel like they are important to you, and like they are having their voices hear. They are your repeat customer and an asset.

These guidelines are the key to helping you to have much better posts. Better posts and higher traffic are the first steps to becoming an internet sensation. Remember you audience, think carefully about your message, and convey things in an organized way.

Even if you only want to run a small business on your own, you should know something about how businesses generally are organised. There are three most common forms of business organisation:

Sole trader
Partnership
Company with limited liability

Each of these types of organisation has its advantages and its disadvantages. It is impossible to say which is best, because none is best in all circumstances.

Sole Trader

This is the oldest, simplest and most common form of business organisation. It is also the most straightforward to set up. Basically, the owner or proprietor of the business is the business. Whether you trade under your own name or use a business name such as Garden Designs, you are solely responsible for everything the business does. Being a sole trader does not mean you cannot employ anyone – it simply means that you are the only owner of the business (often called the proprietor). This form of organisation is common in small service businesses of all kinds.

Operating as a sole trader is simple and cheap. It also has the great advantage that all the profits belong to you personally, so if your business does well you can make a lot of money. There are other benefits as well. A sole trader makes all the decisions himself, so this type of business can be very flexible, adapting quickly to changing circumstances. If, for instance, your customers start asking for new products or services, you can make the changes needed to provide them quickly and easily There is no-one to argue with you if you wish to alter the way the business is run. Without doubt, operating as a sole trader can provide great personal satisfaction.

Being a sole trader does have its drawbacks, however. Just as all the profits of the business belong to you, so you personally are responsible for all its debts. If the business cannot pay its creditors, you, the business owner, can be made bankrupt – that is, you may be forced to sell your personal possessions, your house, your car, and so on to pay off the business’s debts.

As a sole trader, you are liable not only for what you do, but for what your employees (if you have any) do as well. For instance, if they fail to install or repair an electrical appliance correctly and it causes an injury, you personally may be sued. It is therefore essential that you insure against such mishaps. The business is also heavily dependent on your good health, and you should insure against the possibility of this failing.

Most sole traders operate businesses which do not require substantial amounts of capital (money invested in the business). They largely provide their own money at the beginning. However, when the time comes to expand, the owner may have to borrow in order to increase the assets of the business, and this is where other people may enter the picture.

It is at this stage that one of the other forms of business organisation may be considered, because they make more money available. However, they do involve a reduction in personal control and direction of the enterprise.

by D. R. Barton

What used to take days to play out in the markets is now taking hours or less. With the stock market daily range still at all time highs an interesting phenomenon is taking place-time compression.

The S&P 500 Average True Range (ATR) is running 80% higher than it was during the previous volatility heights of 2000. And more amazingly, as a percentage of price, volatility (as measured by ATR) has been as high as 8.4% of price in the past week!! The highest it ever reached in 2000 was 3.0% of price, and that was only for a day or two.

This volatility has literally compressed time. If we look at the S&P hourly chart, we see AVERAGE moves that are as big as daily bars were just a few short weeks ago. These are truly historic times.

Last week we talked about the importance of keeping history in perspective as we looked back at 25 year long trading ranges. See this article at www.smarttradepro.wordpress.com

But with this time compression that is taking place, it makes sense to keep an eye on shorter time frames, even if you are a longer term trader. With that in mind, let’s look at a 60 minute chart of the S&P 500. Chart located at www.smarttradepro.wordpress.com

For the upside, the area around 986 will be a key resistance/breakout area. An hourly close above this area should give the market all the reason it needs to take another look at the 1045 high from early last week.

The downside is a bit more ominous, as we see no real support until we get down to 865 and then 840.

The overriding theme on this chart for me is the range containment. Currently, the market prices have been contained for the past week by the huge move up from Friday, October 10th and Monday, October 13th and the almost as impressive from Tuesday, October 14th to early on Thursday, October 16th. This is giving us a multi-bar range compression that shows us a descending triangle. A break of the triangle’s edges on a closing basis for an hourly bar should give us some additional near-term clues to market direction.
