Home Based Business – Stop the Fantasy

March 16th, 2010

Everyone wants to get rich quickly and easily. But there’s no such thing as getting rich quick. Believing the hype surrounding get rich quick schemes can lead not only to disappointment but also to financial disaster. Getting rich is a slow process. There’s no quick way to a six or seven figure income. The promise of a massive payout for doing almost nothing or mailing chain letters is tempting, but it won’t get you anywhere. You have to ignore the gifting programs, ponzi schemes and the screenshots of massive paypal or clickbank payouts that are meant to draw you in. Don’t be fooled.

I remember a song that was out a while ago, called “Don’t believe the hype.” You should keep that song in mind when looking at get rich quick schemes. You should also realize that there is a lot of bragging and exaggeration on the internet. There are plenty of images of people sitting on mountains of cash, standing in front of mansions, relaxing on a yacht off the coast of the French Riviera or leaning against Lamborghinis and Ferraris. These images are unavoidable. In fact, just today I got an email about an automatic cash pumping machine.

How to get rich quick

I’ve received emails and ads from people who tell me that operating an internet business is as easy as withdrawing money from an ATM 24/7. Well, what they forget to tell you is that in order to get money out of an ATM, you first have to have money in your account. I simply delete these messages without reading them. I don’t want to be lied to anymore, and you shouldn’t waste your precious time reading them either.

Online marketing is often associated with the idea of instant riches. But when you get something easily you don’t appreciate it. A reward is much more valuable when you have worked to earn it. As you develop your marketing skills you will see that, at least to a certain degree, you can better control your own destiny. You’re not dependent on other people’s whims, especially when they may not be working in your best interest.

Through working to build your own business, you also develop the mindset, skills, talents, and work ethic to create wealth. If you hit a rough patch and lose all of your money, you will still have the confidence that you can rebuilt your empire. Wealth starts with your thoughts. Ask Donald Trump or Robert Kiyosaki.

Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki are examples of this ethic. Donald Trump once was asked what would become of him if he were no longer rich. He was not worried. He replied he would just make himself rich again. He had already done it and the process was not a mystery to him. He had confidence in his mental abilities and he knew he had the will and the motivation needed to create wealth over and over.

Wealth accumulation is not a sprint. It’s a marathon. Treat your online business the same way you would treat your offline business. Would you expect to become rich overnight from owning a franchise or a mom and pop store? Certainly not! So, why would you expect to achieve untold wealth in 30-90 days in your internet business?

I’ve heard people say that they will work their online business for a couple or months to see how it works out. One to three months isn’t much time at all. If you are serious about growing a replacement income for your current job or a walk away income as you start building your fortune, a minimum commitment is 1-3 years. Don’t short-change yourself by thinking anything else.

So let’s decide now: do you want to dream of getting rich, or do you want to start giving your full attention to actually getting rich, permanently? Which choice seems better to you?

Internet Marketing – Your Business Plan Can Be Your Easy Button

March 16th, 2010

So what is a business plan?

A wise person once said, “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.” Starting a business is such an important endeavor that you’ve simply got to have a business plan. I encourage the people I work with to start with a 90-Day Action Plan, and I help them formulate one that fits them like a glove. It’s got to be tailored to your specific interests, desires, and objectives. Your 90-Day Action Plan is your roadmap to success.

Tweak your roadmap after 90 days. Add your new business goals. Having a carefully thought-out plan will surely aid you in operating your business and boosting your self-confidence. In business, you usually have to have more than desire. Your business plan can help you form the winning strategy that will see you through the inevitable ups and downs of running a business.

How to create a business plan

A business plan helps you anticipate contingencies. There are predictable setbacks that are a normal part of the business cycle. With a business plan, these setbacks won’t throw you off your game because you have already anticipated the normal cyclical nature of the business world. You’ll be better able to weather these business cycles and come out stronger than ever.

This reminds me of a story I once heard about U.S. sailors during a World War II torpedo attack. Everyone thought that greater numbers and percentages of the younger sailors would survive the attack because they had more strength, energy, and vitality. However, much to everyone’s surprise, huge numbers of older sailors survived days in the water, while the younger sailors died.

Naval investigators later determined that it was the older sailors’ experience that helped them survive. Because of their experience, they knew how to overcome challenges and adversity and ultimately survive. They were also better at anticipating challenges and forming plans to overcome them. A business plan will give you a similar edge; because you are planning your response to setbacks, you will be better able to overcome them.

You wouldn’t go on a cross-country car trip without a roadmap or any driving directions. If you don’t know where you’re going or how to get there you won’t know which turns to take. You’d have no idea where you might end up. You’ll probably never get where you’re going. Starting a business without a marketing plan is just like going on a road trip without a map. If you don’t know how to get where you’re going, chances are you won’t.

Your business plan will help you make a lot more money. There was a study of Harvard MBA graduates in 1979. The interviewers asked the graduates about their goals. The results are astounding. The researchers found that a whopping 84% of the grads had no specific goals. These folks had the lowest income when compared with the rest of their cohort.

Another 13% of the graduates had goals, but they weren’t written goals. Compared to the grads with no goals, these students made almost double the income. The final 3% of grads is most interesting and significant part of this study. These are the grads that had written goals. Their income was ten times as much as the other 97% of the graduates combined. This study clearly demonstrates how important written goals are to your overall success.

Help writing a business plan

As a business coach, I help my clients create a simple, easily implemented marketing plan that is specific to them. Having a business or marketing plan is a lot like having written goals. I’m sure that if there were a study of successful business people, it would find that the majority of them had a business plan and that they followed that plan. No matter how simple your business plan is it’s important to have one. Not creating a plan is like committing financial suicide.

Link Building 101 – Buying Backlinks

March 16th, 2010

Expect to make good money if you find some profitable deals and this ought to push you to do some research. You can start by using search engines and forums. Hook up with the most participated forums which exclusively deal with processes of making money online and separately deal with issues like places to buy, trade or exchange links.

Here is what to look for when buying links.

Though it looks influential, site wide links does not quite live up to its reputation as it is nothing but links from all or several pages of the same site. For instance, you could obtain 10,000 backlinks from website having equal number of pages. The point to be noted is that Google overlooks the large number of links which are originating from the same site. Ten thousand backlinks may not be counted as such but you could still benefit.

Article and directory submissions or backlinks from blog networks are other ways you could access great deals. Never buy multiple directory submissions since chances are that they all work with the same websites. For directory submissions find out the best deal, take your time on proper research. A good deal is when you get a thousand directory submissions.

When it concerns article submission you have to ascertain that you are not buying services where submissions are made to the same directories and it is best to check out a list or sample of the directories. An excellent is one where the services can submit to a thousand article directories. Going on with your research beyond this point is not suggested as this is extra load of work.

Understand that backlinks purchase means that a lot of links are directed towards your site. While this is highly commendable, make sure that different anchor texts are used. The idea is to make as many mutations as possible, six to eight is good enough, and use them all.

Variation in the keywords mean when you make new keywords out of the main keywords keeping the main keywords as it is. Do not take this too seriously, just make sure you change it sometimes. When you buy backlinks from blog networks, make sure that the blogs do not carry the same IP address. It does not matter if they have no pagerank, but make sure the blogs are indexed at least.

Certain deals consist of purchasing links from high pagerank websites, but these are usually more expensive. You should not get involved in such expensive deals with a limited budget but even buying many links from zero to low pagerank sites could still bring you profits. The most that is expected of you is to ensure that the sites are indexed.

Niche Marketing 101 – The Ins And Outs

March 16th, 2010

There are a couple of questions that need to be asked before anyone enters in the niche marketing business. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most frequently questions people ask or should ask before they enter the niche marketing business.

A good means of acquiring profit is to engage in research. Check out what people are searching for on discussion boards. Use keyword research software to see what the most popular searches are on any given subject. To discover new trends and movements you must keep you ears open.

How do I know the niche I have found is profitable? You can tell if a niche is profitable in plenty of ways. Maybe you’ve found a good niche if the terms related to the niche seem to be searched often and that there aren’t too many people competing for them on search engines like Google.

This could be explained by the fact that the niche simply is not marketable. You will find some niches have heavy search volumes and a lot of competition. These are clearly profitable, but because of the high level of competition, you product or any niche marketing effort might fail if it’s not top notch and efficiently promoted.

There are also niches with no one competing in them because they are obscure. There is very little chance of a profit if there is really no market or if the information can be found for free on the web. The only fool proof way to see if you’ve found a good niche is through testing.

How should I be testing my niche? Visit discussion boards and ask questions about a hypothetical product you might pitch or create. Poll people that will read your thread so you can use them to gauge exactly how people are responding to your idea if the internet marketing discussion boards will allow that.

If you were thinking about launching a product, do a pre-launch to see how people are responding. If you were thinking about promoting products through niche affiliate marketing programs, then test the waters with low cost or even free marketing solutions.

There isn’t really a “best” way to promote to a niche so the question ‘What is the best way to make money with niche marketing?’ is difficult to answer. A blog will be more profitable for their niche for some people, it is all dependent upon the niche and your budget and/or capabilities.

Some might consider launching a small report or a full on e-book or video series for their niche whereas others might consider setting up a newsletter. There are so many ways to use niche marketing to make money that it’s really impossible to tell which one is the best.

Niche marketing is very easy when done right. In no time you should be halfway through conquering the niche marketing field if you do your research, test your products properly and use a variety of methods to promote them.
