Battle Of The Blogosphere WordPress Vs Blogger

In the blogosphere, to blogging page hosters lead the pack in getting bloggers to sign up with them and use their services. For any long time blogger, they’ll always be asking themselves, “WP or Blogger?” Truthfully though, what are the things that set them apart and which of them is farther ahead than the other in this two horse race?

There is only one way to determine this and that is to put the features of each blogging page hosters head to head from a blogger’s point of view.

Project Principles:
WP utilizes an open source project whereas Blogger is simply a Google-owned blogging page host. Those not-so-particular crowds would not really give a care about this but for the true community of bloggers, it could be a crucial difference.

Ease and Efficiency:
WordPress only requires you to take 2 simple steps which only eat up seconds to get your blog up and running but Blogger needs you to take 3 huge steps which generally require a longer period of time before you can get started with blogging. WordPress clearly impresses in this part.

Themes:
These make up for the look of your blog and while both web hosts provide you with a long list of themes to choose from, only Blogger allows for further customization by letting its users do their own coding to get their creativity pouring and get the right look for their blog. Although WordPress does not offer that, they make up for it by allowing users to switch themes easily at any time and their list of themes are constantly updated with regard to users’ feedback; a feature that will provide users’ the fun of browsing through many great looking themes which can go on for hours.

Blog Statistics:
WordPress has an integrated statistic system for the use of all its subscribers. It permits them to get an idea of their blog’s visitors and the frequency as well as makes it easier to evaluate their own blog. It also permits the blog creator to add tags to each post as a convenient form of compilation apart from making it easy for readers to navigate. Blog creator is lacking in these departments and WordPress wins again.

Security against Spam:
While both web hosts offer spam security in their systems, WordPress’ Automatic Spam security is the one more approved by subscribers as of now in terms of useability.

Posts’ Comments:
While both hosters allow for comments for each post considering the blogger permits it, only WP offers notifications for comments to be tracked back and follow ups to the blogging page administrator.

Importing:
WP can convince more people to switch over than Blogger and much of the credit has to go to their importing feature. It allows bloggers to literally shift their old blogging page hosted elsewhere to WP, something Blogger lacks and may be a victim of.

Quite simply, both provide the basic needs of any blogger but once taken into account, one clearly outshines the other in terms of features and functionality. WP is our winner, is it yours?

A Brief Note Regarding Builder Theme Review For Users

Most people use the free WordPress system to build their blogs and websites. The system is easy to use and a person can get up and running fairly quickly. This Builder Theme review is going to talk a little about how great this tool is for taking your WordPress website or blog to the next level and creating the kind of unique and distinctive look that will give you the brand recognition you want.

The group that built the Builder have been dedicated to creating products to make WordPress a more useful tool for people. If you have set up a website or blog in WordPress, you have already experienced the inflexibility of the themes that are provided by the system.

Many people who begin their blogs and websites on WordPress eventually get frustrated when they can’t get out of the “theme” box and start making their own decisions about color, design and layout. Most of these people wind up paying for a more flexible system that they have some control over.

There are some great things about this program. It’s very easy to navigate, has some great tutorials, and there is always a video on the website that can give you tips and tricks for making things function more effectively. But, the program is really secondary to the team that build the program. We all know that a program is only as good as the people who stand behind it. Being able to watch Chris, one of the builders, go through each part of the program and explain how to move things or create something is really great.

I’m not a programmer or a “designer”. I am a person who wants to be able to tweak WordPress and not be forced to use a theme that I’m not 100% happy with. I needed something, a tool, that would give me the power to make my own designs, change colors, move widgets or choose a different theme.

I was able to build a five page website that had all the bells and whistles in about a half hour. This included the time that I played with different attributes and checked out some extra features. The cool thing about Builder is that you get a thumb nail that shows the result of each change and you can see each change you have done without having to publish the site to see it.

Then there is the iThemes team. If I have a question, suggestion, or problem, there is somebody there who can help. The whole group is familiar with all of the intricacies of Builder and WordPress and can walk me through any issue easily. This is such a nice change from some programs I have purchased and then been unable to get any kind of support for.

I’ve used a lot of design programs, but I honestly have not seen one like this. The Theme Builder review was completed by playing with it, creating a website and blog, and clicking each button to see what would happen. Followed by calling and getting assistance for how to get out of the mess that I had gotten myself into clicking every button. For me, the program and its quality is important, but the people that build it and support it have the same level of importance. I am totally happy with this product and highly recommend it.

I am a small company owner. Until 1 year ago (February 2009), almost to the week, I could not build my own web site or blog.

2. You will save tons of money if you can build your own sites and do your own search engine optimization. I’ve built 4 sites for my offline business and I’ve done the Search engine marketing on all of them. I do Website optimization every month and my traffic is in trajectory right now.

3. The future of almost every business is online. Once I grasped that, it was a no-brainer for me to learn how to take my business online in a way that I could do it myself.

4. WordPress practically free. The WP software is free. Many themes (i.e. templates) are free. All you need to pay for is hosting, which costs less than $7 per month. That $7 each month with good services will let you host a limitless number of websites and blogs.

5. Speed. Once you are familiar with WP, you will be able to make sites very quickly.

6. Cutting edge development. Because there is a huge WordPress community contributing to its development, WP is constantly improving enabling better and better sites. It is not constrained by private ownership.

7. Unlimited capability. You want a contact form, pick from numerous free designs. Want twitter widgets – start shopping. The point: you can add in every kinds of cool functions that cost you nothing or very little. There are plugins for almost every need.

8. It does not get much easier than WP. Seriously, once you get it installed, you are looking at a very simple user interface within which you control the development of your web site. Of course if you know coding you can do some additional customization, depending on the theme. However, to get a decent website up, you don’t need to know coding.

9. SEO. WordPress gets great search engine results with Google. Also, there are excellent free SEO plugins that can really give your site an Website optimization boost.

10. Unlimited Site styles. Whether you need a corporate internet site, e-commerce website, a news web site, etc., WordPress delivers. Again, it’s every in the WP theme you get that will help with your website style, layout, and functionality.

11. Content Management System. What this means is it’s easy to add content. Without a doubt, WP is one of the easiest site platforms for adding content – whether images, videos, articles, etc.

12. Spectacular premium themes available for clean, high-performance, and fabulous looking websites. Even though these themes cost money, it is fraction of other web site builders and hiring web site designers.

After less than a year of building internet websites for my business, these are my 12 reasons why it was important for me, an entrepreneur, to learn and build my own WordPress websites.
